What you need to know
- Every request for .al is approved manually by AKEP. Approval time is not fixed and the request may be rejected — e.g. for a reserved name or a NIPT that doesn't match.
- The form asks for your legal status (individual, sole trader, private or public legal entity) and a document: ID card or passport for individuals, NIPT for businesses.
- Registration years start from the approval date, not the order date — you don't lose a single day of the period you paid for.
- The transfer code (EPP) for .al isn't issued automatically: it must be requested from your current registrar, so a transfer takes longer than with .com.
- The .al registry is not signed with DNSSEC and has no public WHOIS service.

There's no fixed deadline — AKEP reviews every request manually. We check the status at the registry every hour and notify you by email as soon as the domain is activated.
What happens if AKEP rejects the request?
We notify you with the reason we receive from the registry. Common causes are a reserved name or details that don't match the document, e.g. the business's NIPT.
Can I register .al as an individual?
Yes. Choose the «individual» status and fill in your ID card or passport details. For a business you need the NIPT.
Why does renewal cost differently from the first year?

How do I transfer an existing .al to WandUP?
We need the transfer code (EPP) from your current registrar. For .al this code is issued manually, so the transfer takes longer than for international domains.
